The advertised download and upload speeds for our packages are calculated by taking the median average, or the mid-point between the fastest and slowest speeds for each package at peak times (8-10pm), each month. Fibre 900 is a fibre broadband service. You may have heard it referred to as FTTP (fibre-to-the-premises) or fibre-to-the-home (FTTH).
It means you’ll get ultrafast connection using fibre optic technology, delivering speeds of up to 900Mbps. That’s 15x faster that the average UK download speed!
900Mbps is an incredible broadband speed. Especially when comparing to the average UK broadband speed of 73.21Mbps (correct as of August 2024), that’s supersonic!
Perfect for avid gamers, online workers, movie streamers – or just keeping everyone happily connected without a worry.
Gamers using Xbox, Playstation or playing on a Mac or PC typically need a minimum of just 3Mbps.
Keep in mind that there’s likely to be more than one of you using the connection for gaming, work or personal usage. Even then, your 900Mbps is still more than enough broadband for gaming, and should completely eliminate lag.
No, 900Mbps broadband is not the same as 1 Gigabit (1Gbps) broadband – but it’s close!
1Gbps broadband is equivalent to a download speed of 1,000 megabits a second – so 100 megabits more than 900Mbps broadband. In practice though, the gap is negligible, and you’re unlikely to notice the difference.
