Airband Talk is our home internet phone service powered by VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). It lets you make and receive calls over your broadband connection – no need for a traditional phone line. For rural homes, it’s a reliable, future-proof upgrade to stay connected.
The UK’s old copper network is being phased out and replaced with fibre. In short: copper’s out, fibre’s in. With Airband Talk, you’ll be ready for the change, and you won’t even know the difference.

No need to change your current phone or number
Forget about landline fees and cables…an internet phone line gives you the flexibility and freedom to make calls from your home phone, anytime, whenever you’re connected to the internet.
When you order Airband Talk, you can either:
- keep your existing analogue handset and connect it to our digital voice service using an ATA adaptor (free)
- If you already use a digital handset, the free ATA will not work. You can add an Airband-optimised handset, along with a base station, for £114.99.

Airband Talk is a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) internet phone service which allows you to make phone calls using the internet instead of traditional phone lines. You can add Airband Talk on to your fibre broadband contract for a small fee.
Although Airband Talk is an internet phone service, you won’t know the difference. You can continue to make and receive calls from your landline, to any number (note that only UK local and national calls, and 03 numbers are included as part of your Airband Talk plan – you can view rates for all other numbers here).
No, an Airband Talk package can only be purchased as an add-on to one of our broadband packages. This means you’ll need to be an Airband broadband customer to use the service, as Airband Talk is offered as a fibre package with VoIP (VoIP and broadband package).

UK local and national calls, and 03 numbers are included in Airband Talk plans. All of our Talk plans include a free 1571 voicemail service. Calls to these numbers can be called anytime as part of your inclusive minutes.
No, all of our Airband Talk packages come with the option to purchase a physical handset and base station for £114.99 or use your existing handset with a free ATA adaptor from us which is a small box that converts a digital signal to an analogue signal.
Yes, you can keep your current analogue phone number. Simply provide your phone number and current provider and we will switch it over to Airband Talk.
No, if your broadband is not working, you will not be able to make or receive VoIP phone calls. There is a backup battery for vulnerable customers that will enable you to use your phone if there is a power outage.
International call costs with Airband Talk vary according to the country you’re calling, and whether you’re calling a mobile or a landline. You can view our rates list here.
When you make an international call with Airband Talk, we connect you to a landline or mobile abroad. To do this, the call has to travel through the local PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), and each country sets its own fees for using this network. That’s why international calls come at a cost.
This works differently to apps like WhatsApp, which feel “free” (beyond your data usage) because they connect one VoIP service directly to another. The trade-off is that both people need to be using the same app for the call to go through.
While mobiles are great on the go, many households still want the convenience of a home phone.
