How to set up your TP-Link router (Fibre Switch customers)
If you’ve ordered one of our Fibre Switch packages, we’ll send you out a pre-configured TP-Link router before you go live.
You’ll receive an email once your broadband is live. Once you’ve had this, simply follow the instructions below and you’ll be good to go no time at all!
Setting up your router
Your router is pre-configured – no setup is needed on your part. To get online, just follow these steps:
- Check your main phone socket attached to your wall. If it only has one port, go to step 2 below. If it has two ports, go to step 4.
- Take the BT adapter marked with “Phone” & “Modem” (provided in the box) and plug it into your main phone socket (NTE socket).
- Plug the DSL cable (included with your router) into the Modem port on the adapter (not the Phone port). Go to step 5.
- Plug the DSL cable (included with your router) into the internet port on your main phone socket (this will be the left port or top port depending on your socket). Make sure nothing is plugged into the other port.
- Plug the other end of the DSL cable into the white DSL port on the back of your router.
- Plug the power cable into the power port on your router and plug the other end into a plug socket.
- Switch the router on. Wait a few minutes for the connection to establish.
- Once the broadband or internet light on the router turns solid blue, you’re good to go!

Connecting to WiFi
You’ll find your WiFi details (network name and password) printed on a label on the back or underside of your router.
To connect to your network:
- Open WiFi network settings on your device.
- Select the WiFi network name (SSID) from the list as shown on the router.
- Enter the password exactly as shown on the router (it’s case-sensitive).
How to set up additional nodes
For larger homes or homes with multiple stories, thicker walls, or unusual layouts, you may want to set up additional mesh nodes for corner-to-corner coverage. If you purchase these from us, they will come with set-up instructions as per below.
- Connect the power adapter to the mesh device.
- Connect the WAN/LAN port of the mesh device to your router’s Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable. Wait for the status LED to flash blue before continuing.
You then have two options:
Set up the node using the TP-Link Aginet App
- Download the “Aginet” app from the Apple or Google Play store.
- You can create a TP-Link account if you don’t already have one, or continue without one
- Tap “Create a Network” and follow the on-screen instructions. Your product label will be on the bottom of your mesh node.
Set up the node using a web browser
- Either scan the QR code on the mesh node (bottom) or connect to it wirelessly using your laptop/PC/mobile phone. You can use an Ethernet cable if you’d prefer.
- Go to http://tplinkwifi.net and create a login.
- Follow the on-screen instructions
