Standard vs non-standard installations

Every installation is different and can vary in complexity. Wherever possible, we’ll offer a standard installation that’s free of charge to the customer. However, there are times when installations are non-standard. When this is the case, the customer may need to pay an installation charge.

You can read about the difference between the two installation types below:

Standard broadband installation

A standard installation is where we are able to install our broadband to the property without any obstructions and/or exceptional costs.

Airband include standard installations free of charge to residential customers.

Non-standard broadband installations

Our engineers will do everything possible to complete your installation at the agreed time, often at the same time as your survey. If it is not possible to continue with the installation appointment, our engineer will inform us and the installation will be cancelled. This could happen because of one or more of the following reasons:

  • safety issues
  • a fault within the network equipment leading to the exterior of your property
  • the complexity of the installation
  • the materials required
  • factors caused by a third party such as Openreach or National Grid

These installations have specific requirements and become bespoke projects which are outside the scope of our standard installation service. Non-standard installations will require a separate on-site survey by an installation technician.

We will discuss any additional installation cost with you before the installation can commence. If you agree to go ahead with the installation, the installation charges will be confirmed to you in writing and once the network is installed then our service can be delivered to you according to your order. The agreed installation charge will be taken as part of your first monthly payment.
