Troubleshoot your WiFi router

If you are having problems with your WiFi router, try our quick steps below first or you can read more detailed instructions on our comprehensive router troubleshooting guide.

  1. Check our network status page to see if there is a wider issue affecting your area.
  2. Reboot your router by turning off at the plug, waiting 30 seconds and turning it back on again. However, DO NOT press the reset button on your router as this could make it unusable and incur a charge to fix.
  3. Try any of the following tips:
    • Lift your router off the floor and higher up, such as on a tabletop
    • Move your router away from any other electronic items
    • Reposition the antennas on your router (if applicable)
    • Move your device closer to the router to see if that helps
  4. Plug in an ethernet cable (easily available online) and check what speeds you are getting on an online speed test. Check how these differ from the speeds you’d expect
