Connected Britain is the UK’s biggest digital economy event bringing the best-known names in the industry together, and this year focused on the future of connectivity in the country. As a business which is connectivity first, Airband was recognised at the awards ceremony for its approach to innovation based on its understanding that there is a need for alternative connection solutions in remote and rural areas.

Over the last year, Airband has focused on the need for alternative technologies in those rural areas which are ‘fibre black holes.’ The business tested, adopted and rolled out the latest in Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technologies, creating a series of next generation products led by AirSpeed 150 which have revolutionised access in areas where fibre isn’t an option. Airband’s array of new network points meant that over 200,000 properties could now access faster broadband speeds, further cementing its reputation as the broadband provider for rural areas.

It’s an honour for Airband to be recognised for innovation by the industry at the Connected Britain Awards. As a business specialising in connecting country communities, we know that fibre isn’t always the answer and have focused on developing a range of products which provide superfast broadband access no matter where you live. This is only the beginning of course, as even faster 1 Gbps FWA access is now available to customers in rural areas,” said Kash Rahman, Managing Director of Airband.

Airband offers a mixed technology network to connect country communities to hyper-fast broadband across England and Wales providing creative connectivity solutions via fibre broadband, 1Gbps Fixed Wireless Access, FTTC and 4G. Faster speeds than ever before, no matter where you live.
